Join us on our Home Brew Course as we delve into the wonderful world of coffee. We will cover the journey from bean to cup and introduce you to some interesting coffee facts along the way before showing you how to prepare great coffee at home. Through hands-on practice and plenty of taste testing, our Home Brew Course gives you the opportunity to try different equipment from the Cafetiere to the AeroPress, test various brewing techniques and discover what you like best. After completing our Home Brew Course you will be ready to impress your visitors with your coffee expertise.

Content:
โ€ข Sensory Experience
โ€ข Introduction to coffee: The journey from bean to cup
– Arabica & Robusta, growing, harvesting, processing, quality grading, sourcing, roasting and brewing.
โ€ข Learning about all the variables that need to be considered when brewing coffee and how they influence coffee taste – includes demonstrations and taste testing.
โ€ข Learning about various home brewing equipment, guidelines and techniques:
– Activity 1: V60/Filter hands on brewing & tasting different recipes
– Activity 2: French Press/Cafetiere hands on brewing & tasting different recipes
– Activity 3: AeroPress hands brewing & tasting different recipes
– Activity 4: Mokka Pot demonstration and taste test
โ€ข Closing discussion and final questions

Requirements: For Beginners and people who want to top-up their coffee knowledge โ€“ no previous experience necessary.

Included in the course:

  • As much coffee as you can drink
  • Some nibbles
  • Complementary 250g bag of coffee

Duration: 3hs (10am – 1pm)

Location: Durham Coffee Roastery – AMR Building (Unit 8), Sacriston Industrial Estate, Plawsworth Road, Sacriston, DH7 6JX, Durham

Accessibility: There are no steps to access our roastery and the floor is flat throughout, as well as parking outside on the same level. Please do get in touch to discuss any queries. Our toilet is a fully accessible disabled toilet.

Christmas & New Year Opening Times

The roastery will be closed for Christmas and New Year from Saturday the 21st of December.

We reopen for online orders on Saturday 4th of January and orders will be processed the week commencing the 6th of January. Alternatively, if you'd like to collect in person, the roastery will open to the public again from January the 8th.
